Korea National Opera Commissions New Chamber Opera 'Elevator Floor B'

The Korea National Opera has officially announced a new commission for composer SiHyun Uhm to create a 35-minute contemporary chamber opera titled Elevator 'B'.

Set inside an elevator cab that comes to an unexpected halt between skyscraper levels, the opera explores urban isolation, unspoken memories, and psychological transformation under conditions of sudden stillness. Scored for vocal soloists and chamber ensemble, the work will be premiered as part of the National Opera's 2026 New Stage Series in Seoul.
